Résumé :

Hyalea orbignii Rang, 1927 est un rare et distinct Cavoliniidae (Gastropoda, Thecosomata) du Burdigalien (Miocène inférieur) du bassin d’Aquitaine. Janssen (in Cahuzac & Janssen, 2010) a déclaré que l’holotype n’avait pas été retrouvé. Pour cette raison et aussi à cause de la confusion existant entre les espèces H. orbignii Rang, 1927 et H. aquensis Grateloup, 1827 il a désigné un néotype. Cependant, le spécimen type porte-nom de H. orbignii a été retrouvé dans les collections de Paléontologie du Muséum. Conformément à l’Article 75.8 de l’ICZN, le néotype désigné par Janssen est destitué et le matériel redécouvert est réhabilité et devient de nouveau le type porte-nom.

Abstract :

Hyalea orbignii Rang, 1927 is a rare and distinctive Burdigalian (Lower Miocene) Cavoliniidae (Gastropoda, Thecosomata) of Aquitaine Basin. Janssen (in Cahuzac & Janssen, 2010) stated that the holotype could not be found. For this reason and also because of the existing confusion between the species H. orbignii Rang, 1927 and H. aquensis Grateloup, 1827 he designated a neotype.  However, the former name-bearing type of H. orbignii is preserved at the Paleontological collections of the Muséum. In accordance with ICZN Article 75.8, the neotype designated by Janssen is set aside and the rediscovered material again becomes the name-bearing type.
